Bi-monthly FSCSDC general meetings:

The General meetings are open to all fire safe council members. At these meetings you will hear from other community FSCs and from representatives from local, state, and federal fire agencies. These meetings are a great forum for sharing news, information, and concerns. The General meeting takes place on the second Thursday of every other month. See the calendar for meeting dates.

Fire trainings in your community:

The FSCSDC partners with community FSCs to bring fire trainings to communities across San Diego County. We can work with you to hold a day-long WUI training or a short workshop on defensible space. Please contact the office for more information and see the calendar for upcoming trainings.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) support:

The FSCSDC supports community FSCs in developing or updating their CWPPs. The Executive Board offers a workshop each year to review all you need to know to prepare and submit your CWPP. Staff and Executive Board members are available to answer any questions you might have and review CWPP drafts for feedback. Staff may also be able to assist you with creating the maps needed for your CWPP.

Fiscal sponsorship:

The Resource Conservation District, in partnership with the FSCSDC, can support community FSCs to seek and manage grants. This may be of interest to FSCs without 501c3 designation or those who do not have the capacity to manage grant funds. Please contact us for more information.

FSC Volunteer Awards Lunch:

Each year in June, the FSCSDC recognizes the great work of community Fire Safe Councils at a Volunteer Awards Lunch. FSC members are asked to nominate their peers for awards in categories including:

  • Fire Safe Council Volunteer of the Year
  • Fire Safe Council Project of the Year
  • Outstanding Community Fire Safe Council
  • Outstanding Leadership Award

Nomination forms and more information will be available here in early Spring.
