DEER SPRINGS FSC WILDFIRE SEMINAR - August 11, 2008
The Deer Springs Fire Safe Council in cooperation with the Welk Resort, is hosting a FREE wildfire seminar on August 11. Students will learn the reasons behind local fire codes, how to manage 100-foot defensible space and the costs of excessive vegetation reduction.
Professionals who work with homeowners are invited to a special technical session from 1-5 p.m. Homeowners are invited to a special evening session designed to teach them how to protect their home and property from 6 - 9 p.m. Both residents and professionals are invited to view products and materials designed to reduce the ignitability of homes between 5 - 6 p.m.

FIRE SAFE SAN DIEGO EXPO - September 27, 2008
Prepare, Prevent, Protect.
San Diego homeowners and the general public are invited to a Wildfire Preparedness Expo hosted by the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County in partnership with the Escondido Fire Department, CAL FIRE and the Rincon Water District. Seventy-five Community Fire Safe Councils, from all over the county, have been invited to display information about their local wildfire prevention efforts and tandem projects with local fire jurisdiction along with information about preparing private property for wildfire . Fire and life safety agencies will also display their products and services. Homeowners will learn about the many products available to help protect their homes from the threat of wildfire. Products on display will include fire resistant gels, ember-resistant venting materials, Class A roofing and ignition-resistant building materials. Local fire authorities will be on hand to answer general questions and showcase firefighting gear.
