DESCRIPTION:Fire Operations in the Wildland Urban Interface: for Community FSCs\, CERT Members\, and Local Residents\nCourse description: This is a one day in-depth course for local residents to learn the principles used by firefighters in suppressing wildland fire and protecting structures in the Wildland Urban Interface. Participants will learn about fire behavior prediction and apply this knowledge to the community’s topography\, fuels\, weather\, and the community’s Fire Safe condition including the construction of homes. Click here to view the map . \nWe have scheduled another very important presentation for the General Meeting conducted by Chief Butz\, who will lead a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) workshop. The presentation will focus on a template and step-by-step completion guide to facilitate the creation or updating a CWPP. Creating a CWPP can mobilize your community to take action to protect lives\, property\, structures\, and community livelihoods\, and can help enhance safety and reduce risk of damage to structures and watersheds. In addition\, communities with a CWPP are given priority for certain funds for hazardous fuel reduction projects. The process begins with a community organization such as a Fire Safe Council or Community Planning Group. Collaboration with federal\, state\, and local fire jurisdictions as well as local stakeholders is essential. SUMMARY:7th Annual Rancho Bernardo Safety Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Rancho Bernardo Community Council is hosting the 7th annual safety fair\, commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the 2007 fires. Due to the fact that the event continued to grow\, they have changed the location to Webb Park\, in the heart of Rancho Bernardo. \nThere are two parts to the day: \n-the safety fair\, hosted by Rancho Bernardo Community Council\, from 11 am to 2 pm. \n-the Rancho Bernardo Community Council will then host a benefit concert from 2:30 pm to 5 pm\, also held at Webb Park. Since so many people helped the fire survivors after they lost everything 10 years ago\, it was decided to hold this benefit concert with all proceeds going to those in Puearto Rico who were recently impacted by all the hurricanes – a way to ‘give forward’. Puerto Rico is still suffering\, with more than 85% still without electricity\, etc. \nLocation: The event will be held in Webb Park which is located between Interstate 15 and Bernardo Center Drive\, roughly between the Pearl Chinese Restaurant (11666 Avena Place: and the Courtyard by Marriott (11611 Plaza Court).
