SUMMARY:FSCSDC General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the General meeting starting at 10:30am. \nThrough the generous support of our partners at San Diego County Fire Authority\, we are able to host this meeting at the County of San Diego County Operations Center\, located at 5520 Overland Ave. in the Public Hearing Chamber (Next to the Commons Cafeteria). \nParking will be located in the parking structure\, adjacent to 5520. Click here to view the map . \nWe have scheduled another very important presentation for the General Meeting conducted by Chief Butz\, who will lead a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) workshop. The presentation will focus on a template and step-by-step completion guide to facilitate the creation or updating a CWPP. Creating a CWPP can mobilize your community to take action to protect lives\, property\, structures\, and community livelihoods\, and can help enhance safety and reduce risk of damage to structures and watersheds. In addition\, communities with a CWPP are given priority for certain funds for hazardous fuel reduction projects. The process begins with a community organization such as a Fire Safe Council or Community Planning Group. Collaboration with federal\, state\, and local fire jurisdictions as well as local stakeholders is essential. Please join us to find out more! \n****All Fire Safe Councils**** \nI understand how rapidly positions within FSCs can change\, so I want to take this opportunity to reach out and ask for your help to keep our records current. Please help me by submitting your meeting times\, location (if known)\, and contacts (including numbers and emails)\, via email to Britney.munoz@rcdsandiego.org \nLet Us Know: \nIf you will be able to attend the November meeting\, please R.S.V.P. by responding by sending an email to Britney.munoz@rcdsandiego.org at your earliest convenience.

SUMMARY:7th Annual Rancho Bernardo Safety Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Rancho Bernardo Community Council is hosting the 7th annual safety fair\, commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the 2007 fires. Due to the fact that the event continued to grow\, they have changed the location to Webb Park\, in the heart of Rancho Bernardo. \nThere are two parts to the day: \n-the safety fair\, hosted by Rancho Bernardo Community Council\, from 11 am to 2 pm. \n-the Rancho Bernardo Community Council will then host a benefit concert from 2:30 pm to 5 pm\, also held at Webb Park. Since so many people helped the fire survivors after they lost everything 10 years ago\, it was decided to hold this benefit concert with all proceeds going to those in Puearto Rico who were recently impacted by all the hurricanes – a way to ‘give forward’. Puerto Rico is still suffering\, with more than 85% still without electricity\, etc. \nLocation: The event will be held in Webb Park which is located between Interstate 15 and Bernardo Center Drive\, roughly between the Pearl Chinese Restaurant (11666 Avena Place: and the Courtyard by Marriott (11611 Plaza Court).

Chips can be loaded direct from the chippers into residents’ vehicle\, but the vehicle owner accepts all responsibility for any damage to their vehicle. Or\, residents can load their vehicles at the close of chipping at 3 pm. However\, bring your own shovels and hay forks to load them! \nThe Fire Safe Council is planning more of the events for 2017\, and has been awarded grant money through CalFire to cover the cost. \nThe funds come from the $135 yearly fee we pay to the state for fire prevention in the Sate Responsibility Area (SRA). \nWe want to thank our partners in these events: The Valley Center Municipal Water District\, for the use of its facility and aiding in publicity; CalFire\, for providing the grant funding and grant administration; and the San Diego Urban Corps\, for providing the chipping and disposal services while providing disadvantaged young people training in job skills and education. \nThe Valley Center Fire Safe Council has been dedicated since 2008 to making Valley Center a wildfire-resistant community by funding and sponsoring wild land fuel reduction activities and community education.
