DESCRIPTION:AN IMPORTANT COMMUNITY MEETING AND WILDFIRE EDUCATION WORKSHOP WILL BE HELD SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24\, 2022 FROM 8:30 TO 12:00 NOON AT FIRE STATION 37 AT 2383 HONEY SPRINGS ROAD.\nSafety subjects to be covered include updated EARLY EVACUATION and “READY SET GO” procedures\, COMMUNICATION during wildfire events\, and best chances of keeping internet service up during a power outage.  There are many roads and easements in our communities that are “one way in – one way out”.  If a fire does not allow for evacuation\, you need to have some skills for LAST CHANCE SURVIVAL.   Attend the workshop and learn some valuable strategies on rational thinking and ways to survive if surrounded by fire.   Information will be related by fire fighters who have experienced this type of event.

We will have an exciting guest speaker\, Douglas Stow\, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University. He has worked in the remote sensing field for almost 45 years and his research focuses on multitemporal image analysis\, with an emphasis on mapping and monitoring of land use and land cover\, vegetation and habitat condition\, wildfire spread and post-hazard damage. He will kick off our meeting with a presentation on his research which focuses on how fuel and topography influence the rate of wildfire spread. \nAfterwards\, we will have updates from the FSCSDC Board and time for all partners and community fire safe councils to give an update of what they are working on. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our newest workshop offering\, the Last Chance Survival Simulation Workshop\, in Valley Center on Saturday\, March 26th from 9am-4pm! \nAbout the training: \nA course for community members designed to address wildfire entrapments and human survival in the wildland fire environment. \nSome topics covered include recognition primed decision-making\, open-source fire intelligence\, contingency planning\, and other practices that may enhance the likelihood of human survivability in a fire entrapment scenario. \n*Please note\, this course will involve a short field exercise that simulates an evacuation scenario.  \nTime: Registration begins at 8:30am.
