NRCS has provided information to apply for technical and financial assistance to improve forest health and fuels management in privately owned forest and shrub land area with EQIP.

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary, conservation program administered by NRCS that can provide financial and technical assistance to install conservation practices that address natural resource concerns.  EQIP funding decisions are based on an evaluation process that includes pre-screening and ranking criteria.  Pre-screening is used to prioritize assistance based on factors such as a history of contract compliance.  Ranking is completed through the Conservation Assessment Ranking Tool (CART) and considers the anticipated benefit of a conservation system, or practice, to a natural resource concern and national, state, and regional priorities being addressed.
