San Diego County Community Wildfire Protection Plan
About the CWPP
Authorized under the Healthy Forests Restoration Act, the San Diego County CWPP is a collaborative, countywide strategy to reduce wildfire risk, strengthen community resilience, and support coordinated wildfire preparedness efforts across the region.
The plan was developed through partnerships between local Fire Safe Councils, community based organizations, public safety organizations, and local, state, and federal fire agencies. The plan update process began in September 2025 and through a course of public meetings, workgroup sessions, and engagement surveys, the plan was adopted May 2026.
The 2026 CWPP identifies priority wildfire mitigation actions and long-term resilience strategies throughout San Diego County, from our rural backcountry, to the Wildland Urban Interface, and canyon-rim communities.
