San Diego County Fire is offering a KnoxBox Program for residents served by San Diego County Fire, Deer Springs Fire Protection District or Ramona Municipal Water District. This program provides high quality lock boxes at no cost to eligible residents.
San Diego County Fire will install them on or near the front door of the home. Inside, a spare house key is stored. This way, firefighters can open the box, get the key and gain access while responding to a medical emergency or life-threatening disasters in case you can’t open the front door. This will save time and the damage of firefighters having to break down a door.
Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Residents must live in the coverage areas for San Diego County Fire, Deer Springs Fire Protection District or Ramona Municipal Water District and must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Must be 62 years or older
- Have a disability
- Need assistance with major life activities such as eating, walking, standing, etc.
